KSAU Inaugurates 9 Biak Air Wing To Strengthen Air Security

JAKARTA - Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) Marshal TNI M. Tonny Harjono inaugurated Air Base 9 Manuhua Biak Air Base to strengthen the security of airspace sovereignty in Papua.

"Today the operation of Wing Air 9 Manuhua Biak Air Base was inaugurated in conjunction with the inauguration of the first Commander Lt. Col. Pnb Heru Wardhana to add an Air Force unit in the Papua region," said Marshal Tonny in a statement after inaugurating Wing Air 9 Manuhua Biak Air Base, Thursday, February 13.

KSAU said the existence of the Air Wing 9 unit has the task of preparing and carrying out technical guidance and operating air squadrons in its ranks.

Meanwhile, another task is the operation of Wing Air 9, according to Marshal Tonny, collecting and recording data for the improvement of tactics and technicalities, both operations and exercises involving units in his ranks.

KSAU congratulated the Air Wing 9 of Manuhua Biak Air Base which has officially operated in Eastern Indonesia's airspace, especially in Papua.

He asked the Air Wing 9 Commander Lt. Col. Pnb Heru Wardhana to be able to immediately adapt to the environment to carry out his duties in Papua.

"Carry out your duties with full responsibility as a commander who has been given by the leadership of the Indonesian Air Force," said Marshal Tonny.
