Mini Cooper Terror Hits Crowds In Germany's Munich, Perpetrators Of Afghan Asylum Searchers

JAKARTA - About 28 people were injured when a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker crashed a Mini Cooper car into a crowd of people in Munich, Jeerman.

The German government said the incident was suspected to be terror-related as Munich prepares to host a high-level security conference.

Police in the southern city said the car approached a police vehicle stopped by demonstrations of Verdi's union before speeding and crashing into people.

Allegations of the attack sent security back in the spotlight ahead of next week's federal election following several other violent attacks.

This also happened hours before prominent international figures, including US Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, were in the city to attend the Munich Security Conference which will begin on Friday.

"The possibility is an attack," Bavarian State Prime Minister Markus Soeder told reporters.

Bavarian Interior Minister said he did not suspect it had anything to do with the conference.

The police detained the driver and did not consider it a further threat. The incident occurred about 1.5 kilometers (1 mile) from the security conference.
