Tofu Factory In Denpasar Caught Fire Because A Steam Plate Exploded, One Person Injured

DENPASAR - Denpasar City Police (Polresta) said the fire at the tofu factory on Jalan Bebelu, North Denpasar, Bali, was triggered by a steam furnace explosion.

"The cause of the fire explosion is thought to have been caused by damage to the steam cylinder furnace from the tofu factory. Material losses are estimated at Rp. 100 million," said Denpasar Police Public Relations Head AKP Ketut Sukadi, Wednesday, February 12.

He said there were no fatalities in the incident. There was one victim Mega Angela who was rushed to Wangaya Hospital because he suffered minor injuries due to being hit by the rubble.

Sukadi explained that the factory fire incident occurred on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at around 12.30 WITA. The owner of the place of business is Hendri Budiono Suwanto.

According to the testimony of his employee Darius Nono Bani, initially when the witness wanted to check the water in the steam tube, the witness found a vapor tube suddenly exploding and bouncing towards the factory's side of the building.

"As a result, the boarding house building next to the tofu factory was damaged," said Sukadi.

According to witness testimony, the tofu factory does not use gas as fuel, but uses firewood as a source of fire.

The steam tube work system, where every 15 minutes must be filled with water and always controlled by employees, but at that time, the vapor cylinder suddenly exploded and burned the tofu factory building.

Denpasar City firefighters who received reports from residents then came and tried to extinguish the fire. The fire can be extinguished for about an hour.

Meanwhile, the injured victim was a boarding house resident who was right next to the tofu factory. "The victim was crushed by the rubble of the wall which caused pain in the back and suffered lacerations to the left leg," concluded Sukadi.
