JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto showed an extraordinary moment of closeness with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during an official visit to Jakarta. This moment of closeness was seen in the framework of cooperation between Indonesia and Turkey.

Upon President Erdogan's arrival at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, at around 18.30 p.m. West Indonesian Time (WIB), President Prabowo greeted him warmly. This special moment occurred when heavy rain poured down on Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.

At that time, President Erdogan and First Lady Emine Erdogan got off the plane without umbrellas, and President Prabowo, who was wearing a black suit and peci, immediately shared an umbrella with Erdogan and his wife.

Erdogan's arrival was greeted with a guard of honor and a red carpet. "Assalamualaikum, how are you?" said Erdogan to Prabowo.

Prabowo then shook Erdogan's hand and introduced a number of Turkish contingents in Indonesia to Erdogan.

Prabowo and Erdogan then also took the time to greet the Indonesian media crew by waving simultaneously.

Furthermore, Prabowo invited Erdogan and his wife Emine Erdogan to enter the convoy of cars that had been provided.

The Turkish President's convoy was seen being escorted by a total of 17 motorcyclists from the Military Police to the hotel where he was staying during his working visit in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Erdogan's visit to Indonesia is in the context of a state visit that will strengthen the good relations that have been established between Indonesia and Turkey.

The two are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java.
