BMKG: Beware Of Rain Accompanied By Lightning In Jakarta To Banjarmasin

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that on Monday most of Indonesia received rain ranging from light intensity, such as Jakarta and Medan, to accompanied by lightning such as Banjarmasin and Tanjung Selor.

In a statement quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 10, BMKG Bagas Briliano weather forecaster said a number of significant weather in several cities, such as the potential for light rain in Medan and Jakarta, thick cloudy in Bandung, thunderstorms in Surabaya, moderate rain in Makassar and Jayapura.

Bagas said, in the Sumatra region, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Padang, and also Banda Aceh are generally cloudy to thick cloudy, and the potential for light rain occurs in the Medan area. He added that Bengkulu, Jambi, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, and also Bandarlampung are generally thick cloudy.

Furthermore, on the island of Java, for the Bandung area, it is generally thick cloudy, the potential for light rain occurs in the Jakarta and Yogyakarta areas, as well as the potential for rain with moderate intensity in the Serang area.

"Be aware of thunderstorms in the Semarang area and also Surabaya," he reminded.

As for Denpasar, he said, there is the potential for light rain, and he also reminded to be aware of the potential for thunderstorms in the Mataram and Kupang areas.

For the Kalimantan region, Pontianak and Samarinda are generally thick cloudy, the potential for light rain occurs in Palangkaraya. He said to be aware of thunderstorms in the Tanjung Selor area and also Banjarmasin.
