JAKARTA Member of Commission VII DPR RI, Syafruddin, reminded the government to oversee the distribution of 3 kg LPG so that there is no hoarding after President Prabowo Subianto canceled the retail sales ban.

Syafruddin highlighted the policy of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) which has been in effect since February 1, which had triggered polemics and turmoil in the community. On the other hand, he assessed that the statement from the Minister of Finance regarding the official price of 3 kg LPG of Rp. 12,750 provided fresh air for the community.

"This policy is in the spotlight, especially in East Kalimantan, where the price of 3 kg LPG in the market can reach Rp. 45,000 Rp. 60,000 per tube since February 2025. This is not the first time the price has soared that high. This condition has been happening for a long time, especially when LPG is scarce. People are getting burdened with scarcity and high prices," said Syafruddin, Wednesday, February 5.

The PKB legislator from the constituency of East Kalimantan emphasized that even though the retail sales ban had been canceled, the government still needed to carry out strict supervision, especially in the regions.

"Do not let people hoard 3 kg of LPG, causing scarcity and soaring prices at the retail level. The government must ensure that the selling price in the field remains in accordance with the highest retail price (HET) that has been set," said Syafruddin.

As Chairman of the East Kalimantan PKB DPW, he also emphasized the need for supervision of agents and Pertamina as the official distributor of 3 kg LPG so that supplies are maintained.

"Do not let the LPG gas cylinders be hoarded 3 kg by irresponsible parties," he said.

Furthermore, Syafruddin assessed that if in the future 3 kg LPG retailers or gas bases must be registered as official sellers, then the licensing process must be made easier so that people can continue to sell without complicated bureaucratic problems.

"Many people sell 3 kg LPG as a source of livelihood. If there are new rules regarding licensing, don't make it difficult for them," he said.

He also asked the government to ensure that the selling price of 3 kg LPG remains within reasonable limits after being allowed to be sold in retail again.

"For example, in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, HET should be Rp. 25,000, but in the field it is sold at a price of Rp. 45,000 Rp. 50,000 per tube," he said.

In addition, Syafruddin encourages the acceleration of the development of renewable synthesis LPG produced from green hydrogen as an alternative to conventional LPG for the long term.
