KPK Hopes Pretrial Hasto Runs Objectively Without Intervention

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) hopes that the pretrial hearing related to the lawsuit against the status of PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto can run objectively. The judge is expected to assess that the determination has been based on two pieces of evidence and laws and regulations.

Hasto is known to have filed a pretrial because he did not accept being named a suspect in the alleged bribery of the interim replacement (PAW) for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the obstruction of the investigation. The lawsuit was submitted to the South Jakarta District Court (PN).

"We hope that the process can run objectively so that the judge can assess and decide without any pressure or intervention from any party," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika to reporters quoted on Wednesday, February 5.

Tessa ensured that the KPK through the legal bureau team was ready to face the lawsuit filed by Hasto. Moreover, the determination of the suspect is based on sufficient preliminary evidence.

"The legal Bureau has prepared itself and God willing, it will be present at the pretrial hearing of HK's brother," he said.

"We believe that the process of determining the suspect has gone through procedures and is based on legal regulations, including at least two pieces of evidence as sufficient preliminary evidence," continued the spokesman with the investigator's background.

As previously reported, Judge Djumyanto decided to postpone the first trial of the pretrial lawsuit filed by PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto. This decision was taken because the KPK as the respondent was not present at the South Jakarta District Court (PN).

The next trial will be held on February 5. Djumyanto said the decision was knocked out because there was a long holiday at the end of January.

Hasto did not accept being named a suspect so he filed a pretrial. He was entangled in the bribery case for the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives together with Donny Tri Istiqomah, who is a lawyer and PDIP cadre.

In addition, Hasto was also named a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of obstructing the KPK's move to arrest Harun Masiku in the 2020 hand arrest operation (OTT).
