Shooting At UN Complex In Kabul Afghanistan, One Taliban Member Dies

JAKARTA Gunshots released by members of the Taliban's security forces in the United Nations' largest complex killed one person and injured another in Kabul.

The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said the shooting took place on Sunday, February 2.

The victims killed were members of the Taliban security forces who were outside the compound, the statement said without providing further details.

Meanwhile, Korbab luka is an international security guard who is contracted by the United Nations.

"The security guard who was signed by the United Nations did not return fire when the incident occurred," he said.

It is not clear what triggered the shooting. Both the Taliban and the United Nations are investigating the incident.

Interior Ministry spokesman Kabul Abdul Mateen Qaniniee confirmed a Taliban guard was killed and one UN contractor was injured.

Taliban authorities have stopped all movement in and out of the compound after the incident, UNAMA said, but the restrictions have now been lifted.

The complex houses offices of various UN agencies, funds and programs, as well as accommodation for members of the UN international staff.
