The Leadership Of Commission IX Of The DPR Supports Atnaker Under The Ministry Of P2MI

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Neng Eem Marhamah, supports the workforce (atnaker) under the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Ministry (KP2MI). The transfer of coordination from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to KP2MI is important so that protection for PMI is maximized.

"Stukung, atnaker harus di bawah koordinasi Kementerian P2MI untuk memastikan perlindungan dan penyepanan yang sesuai dengan kontrak di awal, sebab hal ini sangat berpengaruh pada pekerja migran kita," ujar Neng Eem, Sabtu, 29 Januari.

"Because Atnaker's responsibility can be more efficient because it will focus more on PMI management and protection as a whole, including developing job opportunities in placement countries," he continued.

The West Java electoral district PKB legislator also supports the formation of attractors in every country with PMI. Because according to him, the problems faced by PMI abroad can be handled more quickly.

So far, said Neng Eem, many PMI problems have overlapped because the attaches under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its staff are filled with the Ministry of Manpower. Since it has become a ministry, KP2MI should be an agency that focuses on handling this.

"For example, in Taiwan-state there is no diplomatic relationship with Indonesia, so there is only an Indonesian Economic Trade Office under the Ministry of Trade, so in the end the PMI problem has stalled over overlapping across ministries/agencies, even though the number of PMIs in the country is very large, around 250 thousand recorded," said Neng Eem.

Neng eem also encouraged KP2MI staff to also be present at every representative of the Indonesian office in the country where PMI exists. To ensure the safety and security of PMI in people's countries.

Moreover, recently there was a shooting of 5 PMIs carried out by Malaysian authorities until one person died.

"It is necessary, because the one who will come into direct contact at PMI is the Ministry of P2MI, matters related to PMI protection should be handled quickly by the KP2MI envoy abroad," said Neng Eem.
