Turkey-Singapore Interested In Projects Of 3 Million Houses, Members Of The House Of Representatives Remind The Government To Involve Indonesian Contractors

JAKARTA - Member of Commission V DPR Syafiuddin Asmoro welcomed the support of Turkey and Singapore for the 3 million house project now run by the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP).

Syafyuddin hopes that the implementation of the project will involve contractors and workers from Indonesia.

The interest of Turkey and Singapore was conveyed by the Head of the Housing Task Force (Satgas) Hashim Djojohadikusumo. Turkey wants to build 50,000 houses, while Singapore is interested in building as many as 100,000 houses.

In addition, the government will also sign a cooperation agreement with Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the construction of 1 million houses in the near future.

"The number of countries that want to support the 3 million house project shows that this project is very attractive. Of course we really support President Prabowo's program," said Syafidin, Friday, January 24.

However, the East Java electoral district legislator provided a number of notes on the 3 million house project. First, in collaborating with other countries to carry out a project of 3 million houses, the government must negotiate and offer so that the implementation of the project is handled by contractors and sub-contractors from Indonesia.

According to him, the involvement of contractors and domestic workers is important so that construction companies in Indonesia also benefit and benefit from the development.

He also mentioned the cooperation agreement with Qatar which will build one million houses, but on condition that they will appoint a contractor from China. The agreement has taken place and a cooperation agreement has been signed.

"What can be done is lobby so that Qatar is willing to use sub-contractors from Indonesia. So, contractors from China, but sub-cones from Indonesia," he said.

Second, continued Syafyuddin, the implementation of the 3 million house project must take advantage of the workforce from Indonesia. So that the project can create jobs for the people of Indonesia.

"There should be no workers from outside. All workers from Indonesia. Many skilled workers in the country," said Syafyuddin.

Third, the housing project should not exceed market demand. Therefore, according to him, the government must really calculate market needs, so that there are no excessive and empty housing units because they exceed market demand.

"We will oversee the 3 million house project so that it can be carried out properly and can be useful for the people of Indonesia," concluded Syafyuddin.
