The Number Of Passengers At Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport Was Recorded At 23.9 Million Exceeds The 2024 Target

DENPASAR - I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, recorded that the number of 23.9 million passengers throughout 2024 had exceeded its target of 23.6 million passengers.

General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Ahmad Syaugi Shahab said the total number of passengers served was 23.9 million passengers or 300 thousand more than the target.

"Our target is that by 2024 we can serve 23.6 million passengers and the realization is even better, reaching 23.9 million passengers, with an average per day we serve more than 65 thousand passengers arriving and departing," said Syaugi, Wednesday, January 22.

In addition to exceeding the annual target, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport noted that this number had increased by 12 percent from the number of passengers throughout 2023 which was then 21.4 million.

If dissected, international route passengers dominate more with 14.1 million people, while domestic passengers are 9.8 million people.

Syaugi said the highest number of international passengers crossing I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport was Singapore's goal of 2.7 million people, followed by passengers to Kuala Lumpur 1.8 million people, and Perth 1 million people.

Meanwhile, domestic routes are still dominated by passengers heading to Jakarta (Cengkareng) with 4.8 million passengers, followed by Surabaya with 1.4 million people, and the three Makassar routes with 522 thousand passengers.

Throughout 2024, the highest passengers served by the airport occurred in July and August with around 2.2 million passengers per month.

"Indeed, the season peak period is because these months are summer holidays in European countries and America, including school children holidays in Indonesia," said Syaugi.

The high number of passengers was followed by aircraft movements which increased by 4 percent, namely a total of 142,169 movements, while 2023 136,508 aircraft movements.

As with the number of passengers in and out of Balu, international route aircraft traffic also dominates, namely 72,583 or 51 percent of the total aircraft movements and the remaining 69,586 serve domestic route flights.

"The highest flight frequency for international routes is Singapore's goal of more than 13,000 movements, the domestic route with the first highest number is Jakarta's destination of 30 thousand aircraft movements," he said.

Throughout 2024, the airport in southern Bali also received 15 new routes, as well as cargo production which experienced a surge of up to 57 percent, which was 100 thousand tons.
