KKB Continues To Act In Papua, 2 Police Died In A Week

JAYAPURA In the past week, the actions of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua have again claimed lives from the police. Two members of the National Police, Brigpol Ronald M Enok and First Brigadier Iqbal Anwar Arif, died as a result of an armed attack in Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua.

Most recently, Brigpol Ronald was shot dead on Tuesday, January 21 in Kampung Lima-Lima, Pagaleme District. Head of the Public Relations Task Force for Damai Cartenz 2025, Kombes Pol Yusuf Sutejo, explained that the victim was shot on his way home after refueling the vehicle.

"The shooting was carried out by the KKB blocking the victim on the road. It is strongly suspected that the perpetrator was a group led by Bumiwalo Telenggen," said Kombes Yusuf. Brigpol Ronald's body has been evacuated to Mulia Hospital for further investigation.

A similar incident occurred earlier, Friday (17/1/2025), which killed Brigadier Iqbal. He died after being shot in the neck while the patrol team crossed the PT AMO area. Head of Operations for the Cartenz Peace Task Force, Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, explained that the attack occurred suddenly when the team checked the road that was blocked by a wooden board.

After these two incidents, the National Police ordered increased vigilance of all personnel in the operating area. Brigadier General Faizal emphasized that public security remains a priority.

"We will continue to monitor the situation and act decisively against the perpetrators," he said.

The KKB pursuit operation is currently underway. The National Police affirmed its commitment to creating security stability in Papua and protecting the public from terror threats.

"Actions like this only strengthen our enthusiasm in keeping Papua safe," said Faizal.
