ART From Lampung Steals IDR 315 Million Employer's Money From Inside The Clothing

JAKARTA - R (20) a household assistant (ART) in the Gambir area, Central Jakarta is desperate to steal money belonging to his employer worth Rp315 million.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro said, after being reported and investigated, the police managed to arrest R.

"The amount of the victim's money allegedly stolen was Rp. 315 million," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro to reporters, Monday, January 20.

The theft was first discovered by the victim with the initials LA on Monday, January 6, 2025. However, at that time, the perpetrator had fled to his hometown in the Lampung area.

"The perpetrator of permission to go back to his parents' house in Lampung," he said.

The beginning of the suspicion began when the victim found Rp9 million in the perpetrator's room cupboard. Out of suspicion, the victim checked his money in his bedroom cupboard. When checked, the victim found that some of his money or worth Rp351 million had been lost.

"The victim was suspicious and checked the victim's money in his room cupboard, which was Rp900 million, turned out to be reduced to Rp585 million. And lost Rp315 million," he said.

The victim then reported the case to the Central Jakarta Metro Police. After receiving the victim's report, the police immediately arrested the perpetrator in the Lampung area.

"Members of the Kamneg Unit led by Iptu Rances Manurung managed to catch the perpetrator at his parents' house in Lampung," he said.

Based on the examination, the perpetrator admitted to taking the money belonging to his employer gradually.

"The perpetrator stole the victim's money from the victim's cupboard 6 times in stages but the perpetrator did not remember how much money he had stolen," he said.

The perpetrator is known to have worked at the victim's house for two years.

"The perpetrator has worked as an ART at the victim's house from 2022 to December 2024," he added.

In addition to arresting the suspect with the initials R, the police also confiscated evidence of Rp302 million. Furthermore, the suspect and the evidence were taken to the Central Jakarta Metro Police.

As a result of his actions, suspect R was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with Weighting.
