JAKARTA - Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT) Yandri Susanto reminded the village government in the country that in utilizing village funds for food security it should not be less than 20 percent.

"At least, it can't be less than Rp. 16 trillion. At least, the village funds are used for food security by 20 percent. So, what if 30 percent? Yes, it's okay. What if 25 percent? Yes, at least Rp. 16 trillion, it means it can also reach 20 trillion," Yandri said as quoted by Antara, Monday, January 20.

He said this was in the Socialization of the Regulation of the Minister of Villages (Permendes) Number 2 of 2024 concerning Operational Guidelines on the Focus of Using Village Funds in 2025 for Sumatra II which includes Riau Province, South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Lampung, Bangka Belitung Islands, and Riau Islands, as monitored through the Kemendes PDT YouTube channel in Jakarta, Monday.

The use of village funds of at least 20 percent of the total village funds of Rp71 trillion is regulated in Article 7 paragraph (4) of Permendes 2/2024 which mandates that the allocation of village funds is at least 20 percent to support the food security agenda.

In addition to food security, the Ministry of Villages also regulates a number of other things that are included in the priority of using villages, namely handling extreme poverty which is worth 15 percent of the total village funds.

If in related villages there is no extreme poverty, the use of village areas in the first point will be further regulated in technical instructions.

In addition, village funds in 2025 will be prioritized to support the strengthening of villages that are adaptive to climate change, increase promotion and provision of basic basic health services on a scale, including stunting management, support the development of village potential and excellence, accelerate the implementation of digital villages, solid-based development of cash works, to other priority sector programs in villages.

The socialization was attended by various parties from the Sumatra region, namely representatives of village heads, sub-district heads, to the Community and Village Empowerment Service.
