The Day After Tomorrow, The Government And The DPR Set A Schedule For The Inauguration Of Regional Heads As A Result Of The 2024 Pilkada

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya said the government and DPR RI will soon determine the certainty of the schedule for the inauguration of regional heads who won the 2024 Pilkada. The determination will be discussed in the meeting which will take place on Wednesday, January 22.

"Later, the 22nd will be confirmed in the DPR. We will discuss it with the DPR," Bima said when met at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, January 20.

In the meeting that will be held the day after tomorrow, the government and the DPR will ensure whether the inauguration will still be held on February 7 or postponed until the 2024 Pilkada results dispute period at the Constitutional Court (MK) is over.

"Meanwhile, the Presidential Decree has not changed. We will confirm again that on 22 the Ministry of Home Affairs will hold a meeting with the DPR, KPU, DKPP, Bawaslu. God willing, there will be a decision agreement there," said Bima.

After the inauguration schedule is set, the government will compile a date for the retremation of regional heads. President Prabowo Subianto's collection of regional heads will be similar to the Red and White Cabinet retreat at the Military Academy (Akmil) in Magelang, Central Java, some time ago.

"God willing, on the 22nd there will be a discussion on Wednesday in the DPR. After that, the Ministry of Home Affairs will coordinate with Sesneg, yes, the Cabinet also, to ensure the time and place. We welcome it, this is a continuation, chapter two, the next chapter of the Red and White Cabinet retret in Magelang. It needs synchronization between national policies and regional head vision," explained Bima.

Based on Presidential Regulation Number 80 of 2024 concerning Procedures for Inauguration of Governors and Deputy Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, as well as Mayors and Deputy Mayors. In Presidential Decree 80/2024, the inauguration of governors and deputy governors is still set for February 7.

Meanwhile, the inauguration of elected regents and deputy regents, mayors and deputy mayors, from the results of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections, is scheduled to be held on February 10, 2025.

However, recently, the Chairman of Commission II of the DPR RI, Rifqinizamy Karsayuda revealed that there was a discourse that the inauguration would be postponed because the Constitutional Court would resolve all cases of dispute over the 2024 Simultaneous Presidential Election, to March 13, 2025.

"And the Constitutional Court will only issue all letters stating that there is no dispute with all governors, elected mayors after the PHPU is completed at the Constitutional Court," said Rifqinizamy, Thursday, January 2.

According to him, elected regional heads who do not have disputes in the Constitutional Court must wait for the completion of other regional PHPUs in the Constitutional Court so that the inauguration is held simultaneously.

"That is the basic principle of simultaneous regional elections. Therefore, those who are not disputed must wait for the completion of the disputed ones in the Constitutional Court," he added.
