Meet President Putin, President Pezeshkian Calls Iran-Russia Relations Sensitive, Critical And Strategic

JAKARTA - President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran's relations with Russia were sensitive, critical and strategic when he was in Moscow to sign an agreement, during a meeting with President Vladimir Putin Friday evening local time.

The two leaders held a meeting in the Kremlin, Moscow related to the plan to sign a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement.

President Pezeshkian said Iran's relations and cooperation with Russia would thwart foreign parties' plans, with the area to be managed by local authorities without any outside parties imposing policies, quoted from IRNA January 17.

Delivering greetings from Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, President Pezeshkian of Khamenei's views on deepening and strengthening Tehran-Moscow relations.

He noted that relations between Iran and Russia, both regionally and bilaterally, continue to improve and progress in all fields.

Referring to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two countries, President Pezeshkian said with the signing of the agreement, the two countries could strengthen their ties in all areas of security, culture and trade.

On the occasion, President Pezeshkian praised the progress of the agreement between the two countries for the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Iran as satisfactory, adding the new agreement in this regard has also been signed and will enter the operational phase.

Meanwhile, President Putin said the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement signed by Russia and Iran would provide a push for practical cooperation in all fields.

"Your visit today has a special meaning, because we will not only have the opportunity to discuss all areas of our cooperation, but we will also sign a major basis agreement between Russia and Iran regarding a comprehensive strategic partnership," President Putin said, quoted by TASS.

On this occasion, the two parties discussed expanding cooperation between Tehran and Moscow, including trade, investment, transportation, logistics, the field of humanity and current issues that are important regionally and internationally.
