For Years There Has Been No Solution, Kudus Residents Seal Tanjungrejo TPA Because It Causes Bau Busuk And Cemari Sungai

Residents of Tanjungrejo Village, Jekulo District, Kudus Regency, Central Java, sealed the Tanjungrejo / DOK ANTARA Waste Processing Site (TPA).

KUDUS - A resident of Tanjungrejo Village, Jekulo District, Kudus Regency, Central Java, carried out a sealing and closing of the entrance to the Tanjungrejo Waste Final Processing Site (TPA) because it polluted the surrounding community without any solution for years.

According to the Secretary of the Citizens Association (RW) 09 Tanjungrejo Village, Fahmi Arsyad, residents have long asked for a solution for the impact.

"Starting from air pollution due to unpleasant odors, water source pollution, to pollution of the Jati Pasean River," he said in Kudus, Antara, Thursday, January 16.

He admitted that pollution had worsened over the past five years. In fact, he said, when entering the river it can cause itching on the skin.

"The pollution of unpleasant odors is getting pungent so that it can cause respiratory tract inspection problems at around 02.00 WIB in the morning," he said.

The problem, he said, had been repeatedly conveyed, including writing to related parties, but until now there has been no solution.

For this reason, he said, his demands were closed until there was a concrete solution from the Kudus Regency Government which no longer harmed the residents.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Housing, Settlement and Environment Office of Kudus Regency, Abdul Halil, admitted that there is still land that can be maximized for waste management so that the arrangement is better so that it can accommodate optimally.

With the remaining land, he said, the TPA could still last up to two years.

Regarding the residents' demands to close, he hopes to be discussed first.

According to him, waste management cannot only rely on the government, especially the Kudus PKLH Service because the results are certainly not optimal. But there must be support from the community and the company.

For the waste capacity accommodated at the Tanjungrejo TPA with a land area of 5.6 hectares per day, it reaches 175 tons.

In addition, assisted by PT Djarum specifically for organic waste which is processed into organic fertilizer plus assistance for incinerators or garbage combustion machines given to the Kedungdowo Village Government, Kaliwungu District.

The Tanjungrejo TPA is now sealed by closing the entrance to the TPA with banners and doors also being welded and piled with dredged soil so that no more garbage transport trucks enter the final waste processing location.

The sealing of the Tanjungrejo TPA was witnessed by the Head of the PKPLH Service, Sam'ani Intakoris as the elected Kudus Regent, and Deputy Head of the Kudus Police, Kompol Aditya Satya Nugraha.
