PN Serang Sentences Children 17 Years 2 Years 3 Months In Obscenity Cases

SERANG - The panel of judges at the Serang District Court (PN) sentenced the defendant with the initials K (17) from Serang Regency who was the perpetrator of the sexual abuse case in an 11-year-old elementary school (SD) child.

The verdict hearing was held at the Serang District Court on Wednesday (15/1) in private because the defendant was a minor.

"Sentenced the perpetrator's child to imprisonment for two years and three months at the Class I Tangerang Special Child Development Institution (LPKA) and 3 months of job training at the Serang Correctional Center (PAPAS)," wrote the decision of the Serang District Court, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 16.

The defendant was found guilty of violating Article 81 paragraph 1 of the Child Protection Act.

The verdict was read out by a single judge, Mochamad Arief Adikusumo, in Serang, Wednesday, that the judge's verdict was lighter than the demands of the Public Prosecutor of the Serang Kejari, who previously demanded imprisonment for three years.

Regarding the consideration of aggravating circumstances, the judge considered his actions to be damaging to the future of the victim's child and contrary to religious norms and decency.

While mitigating conditions, the child of the perpetrator was polite during the trial and promised not to do it again.

"Children regret their actions and promise not to do it again," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Serang Police, AKP Andi Kurniady, said that the incident occurred on December 10, 2024, when the victim who was going to play at his friend's house was called by the perpetrator that he would pick up the victim and take him somewhere.

Feeling afraid and uncomfortable, the victim then accepted the invitation because he had never met in person before. On the way, the victim's child who is still afraid to ask the perpetrator where they are going, but the perpetrator answered that there was no need to ask questions and threaten to burn him if he didn't want to come.

The victim was then taken to the house of a friend of the perpetrator who was still in Serang Regency. There were already several friends of the perpetrator who then left the victim and the perpetrator both. There the perpetrator committed sexual abuse twice to the victim.

After the incident, the victim initially told his friend for fear that his parents would find out. But finally the victim's parents found out and reported the incident to the police.

"The victim's parents immediately reported this incident to the Serang Police," he said.
