2 Pesisir Selatan Residents Who Were Dragged By The River Current Were Found Dead

PADANG - The Class A Padang Search and Rescue Office (SAR), West Sumatra (West Sumatra) found two residents of Pesisir Selatan Regency who were swept away by the river current on Sunday (12/1/2025) in a state of death.

"Entering the fourth day of the SAR team together with volunteers and other officers managed to find two residents who were swept away by the river," said Head of Operations and Alert Section (Kasi Ops) of the Padang Class A SAR Office, Hendri, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 15.

The two victims found were Zainudin (70) and Mawi (40) residents of Lubuk Begalung, Lengayang, Pesisir Selatan Regency. Zainudin's first victim was found about 13 kilometers from the scene.

After finding the two victims, the search team immediately took the victim's body to the Kambang Health Center, Pesisir Selatan Regency. With the discovery of the two victims, the Padang Class A SAR together with volunteers confirmed the closure of the search operation.

The two victims were reported missing due to being swept away by the current of the Batang Kambang Nagari River (Village) North Jambang, Lengayang District, Pesisir Selatan Regency.

During the four days of the search operation, his party deployed a number of tools involving four teams. Team one and team two are tasked with searching with a sweeping pattern through the right and left sides of the river.

Team three carried out the search for victims using LCR and team four conducted an air search using the thermal drone. During the search operation, SAR Padang deployed five personnel and six personnel from the Pesisir Selatan SAR Alert Unit.

In addition, the BPBD of Pesisir Selatan Regency also deployed eight officers, one TNI personnel and Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana), four from the National Police, and 23 people assisted by local nagari devices.
