Having No Medical Fees, Couples In West Jakarta Become Suspects After Sending Their Children To The Hospital

JAKARTA - A married couple (couple) in West Jakarta has become a suspect in the alleged case of child neglect at the Grogol Petamburan area hospital, West Jakarta, Saturday, December 28, 2024). Information said that the couple did not have the money to pay hospital fees.

The arrest of H and BU was made by members of the Grogol Petamburan Police on Sunday night, January 12, 2025 at a boarding house in the Jelambar Area, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta.

"Yesterday night we secured the father and mother of the baby. There was no resistance (when they were arrested)," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Grogol Petamburan Police, AKP Muhammad Aprino Tamara quoting ANTARA, Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

The couple left their baby in hospital on December 28, 2024 because they did not have the money to pay the hospital fees.

"Departing the baby with an alibi that the person concerned (couple) does not have money," said Aprino.

It was explained that her husband only worked in a convection, while the wife was only a housewife. The arrests were made because the two of them often moved from place to place.

"This is the person concerned who moves from residence to boarding house, boarding house, but still in the Grogol Pertamburan and Tambora areas," said Aprino.

The couple was charged with Article 77 Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection with a penalty of five years in prison.

It is known that the poor baby was initially taken to the hospital by his parents on December 28, 2024, at 02.45 WIB, until then the baby died at 04.00 WIB after receiving treatment.

Due to difficulties in paying hospital bills, the two baby's parents disappeared in the morning.
