Supported By Fat Coalition, Potential Regional Heads Prioritize The Interest Of Investors

JAKARTA Manager of the Voter Education Network for the People (JPPR), Aji Pangestu assessed that the elected regional head who is supported by a fat coalition has the potential to prioritize the interests of groups or investors in formulating policies.

The majority of winners of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections at the provincial level are those who are supported by a fat coalition. Looking at these conditions, there are two possibilities. First, the supporters of the candidate pairs will work together to formulate policies that are in accordance with the support of the people or actually side with the winning investors who help the nomination process," he explained, Sunday, January 12, 2025.

In addition, the coalition of political parties that support the elected regional head candidate pairs also has the potential to prioritize the interests of their group, in the process of making regional government policies.

"Panslon supporters, in this case political parties, will carry out political defections in terms of managing policies for the electoral interests of their respective political parties," he added.

Therefore, Aji asked political parties that have won the regional head candidate to continue to side with the community, in carrying out their role in overseeing the formation of regional government policies.

"Ideally, political parties in the five years span of office must be able to realize the vision and mission of the candidate pairs they support. Not as a compressor who only plays a role ahead of the election contestation," he said.

"It's time for political parties to improve the structure and function of internal institutions to prepare candidates, either future leaders or strengthen cadres who are more in favor of the people," continued Aji.
