"The initial investigation was carried out by the Yogyakarta Regional Police Bidpropam," said Yogyakarta Police Chief Kombes Pol Aditya Surya Dharma in his statement in Yogyakarta, Sunday.

The six members, according to Aditya, came from the Yogyakarta Police Traffic Unit Gakkum who was involved in Darso's pick-up.

After an internal examination, Aditya said that further investigations and investigations were under the authority of the Central Java Police because reports related to the alleged abuse were received by the local police.

According to him, as of Saturday (11/1) there has been no summons from the Central Java Regional Police for the six members.

"We from the Yogyakarta Regional Police and the Yogyakarta Police will support all investigations and investigations carried out by the Central Java Regional Police," said Aditya.

Based on the results of the investigation by the Yogyakarta Regional Police Bidpropam, Aditya explained that the report on the alleged abuse was related to the process of investigating a traffic accident involving Darso (43). On July 12, 2024, Aditya said, there was a traffic accident involving a motorcycle rider named Tutik with a car driven by Darso on Jalan Mas Suharto, Danurejan, Yogyakarta City.

Tutik, as a result of the accident suffered serious injuries to the neck so he was rushed to Bethesda Lempuyangwangi Hospital, then referred to Bethesda Hospital Yogyakarta. After taking the victim to the hospital, Darso then left the location without communicating with the victim's family or the hospital.

The victim's husband, Restu, then tried to chase Darso on a motorbike, but another incident occurred when Darso's car grazed Restu's motorbike and caused him to fall. Restu then reported the incident to the Yogyakarta Police on the same day.

Armed with the identity of the Darso ID card which was photographed by the victim's family, six people from the Yogyakarta Police Traffic Unit Team tracked down Darso's whereabouts, and visited his residence in Semarang on September 21, 2024.

"The Gakkum team visited the residence of Darso's brother in Semarang, Central Java, in order to send a letter of invitation for clarification," he said.

Although he had denied the accident, according to Aditya, Darso finally admitted his involvement after being shown CCTV footage from Bethesda Lempuyangwangi Hospital.

Darso then invited the police team to the car rental location to clarify the vehicle used during the accident. On the way by car, said Aditya, Darso complained of pain in his left chest and asked for a heart medicine at his house.

"The person concerned asked to stop urinating, then the car stopped on the road and because there were also several (members) who wanted to urinate so that everyone got down except for one person in the car, to urinate in the ditch on the side of the road. After urinating, Darso complained of pain in the left chest," he said.

However, the officer decided to immediately take him to a nearby hospital in Semarang for immediate treatment.

"Darso's wife informed that her husband has a history of heart disease and has undergone a heart ring installation at Dr. Kariadi Hospital, Semarang," said Aditya.

After that, the Yogyakarta Police Traffic Unit Gakkum Team periodically monitors Darso's condition by contacting the hospital until it is informed that he has returned to his home on September 27, 2024.

"Regarding the alleged abuse of Darso's brother addressed to our officers, because it is informed that the report at the Central Java Regional Police may later be a team from the Central Java Regional Police who can provide an 'update' on the results of the investigation related to the alleged abuse," said Aditya.

Previously, members of the Yogyakarta Police Traffic Unit were reported to the Central Java Police Integrated Police Service Center (SPKT) for alleged abuse, causing the death of a resident of Mijen, Semarang City named Darso (43).

The report was filed by the family of the late Darso, as conveyed by the attorney for the victim's family, Antoni Yudha Timor, in Semarang, Central Java, Saturday (12/1).
