DKI KPU: 1 Round Of Regional Head Election Provisions Wait For The Constitutional Court's Decision

JAKARTA - The Head of the Technical Division of the General Election Commission (KPU) of DKI Jakarta Province, Dody Wijaya, explained that the provisions for the one-round regional election need to wait for a decision from the Constitutional Court considering the potential for disputes.

"Because there is still potential dispute in the Constitutional Court, of course we have not been able to determine the next stage, namely the stages of determining the elected governor and deputy governor or determining the governor and deputy governor who entered the second round," said Doddy when met at the Sari Pan Pacific Hotel Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, December 8.

Therefore, Doddy conveyed that his party hopes that the public can wait and provide opportunities for candidate pairs to exercise their constitutional rights to file disputes in the Constitutional Court.

"The Constitutional Court's decision is sometimes unexpected, for example there is an order for re-voting or an order to recapitulate the votes or maybe we as the respondent will be won or considered to have carried out the voting and vote counting well. So we don't assume of course we will wait. Let the process and constitutional rights of the candidate pairs we give the opportunity, "said Doddy.

Today, the DKI Jakarta KPU has held a plenary meeting to determine the results of the 2024 DKI Jakarta Governor Election. In the meeting, the Jakarta KPU determined the candidate pair (paslon) for Governor and Deputy Governor number 3, Pramono Anung-Rano Karno or Si Doel to win the most votes in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada.
