Circulating The Issue Of Nurdin Abdullah Will Be Free, KPK Asks Us Not To Be Speculative

JAKARTA - A report has circulated that the Governor of South Sulawesi (Sulsel) Nurdin Abdullah will be released. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asked all parties not to speculate. The KPK emphasized that it is still conducting intensive examinations.

"The KPK hopes that other parties are waiting for the process we are currently carrying out. We are currently conducting intensive examinations of those who were caught in the act. Among them are the regional heads," said Acting KPK spokesman Ali Fikri to reporters on Saturday, February 27th.

Furthermore, Ali explained, within 1x24 hours the KPK would immediately determine the attitude, including the legal status of the parties arrested this time. "We make sure that the KPK works in accordance with applicable legal procedures," he said.

Previously, when he was confirmed about the alleged corruption case that the number one person in South Sulawesi and his colleagues were hit, Ali Fikri said, was still related to road infrastructure projects. "Yes (road infrastructure)," said Ali.

The KPK arrested the South Sulawesi (Sulsel) Governor Nurdin Abdullah on Friday, February 26. Nurdin was arrested along with five other people consisting of various elements. Starting from officials within the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of South Sulawesi to the private sector.

Nurdin arrived at the KPK's Red and White House, Jakarta from Makassa at around 9.30 WIB. Currently, Nurdin is still being investigated by KPK investigators.
