Update On COVID-19 Per January 17: New Cases 11,287, DKI Jakarta Has The Highest 3,395 Positive People

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. The total cumulative cases totaled 907,929 since the first case was announced on March 2. Meanwhile, new positive cases per day reached 11,287 people.

The confirmed positive cases who died increased by 220 people and a total of 25,987 people. While cases recovered today increased by 9,102 people, so that a total of 736,460 people recovered.

The province with the most new cases was in DKI Jakarta with 3,395 new cases and a total of 227,365. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Furthermore, Central Java 1,855 new cases with a total of 102,904 cases. West Java 1,491 new cases with a total of 112,587 cases. East Java 974 new cases with a total of 99,377 cases. Then, South Sulawesi has 674 new cases and a total of 41,036 cases, and East Kalimantan 454 new cases with a total of 33,612 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 3,775 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an additional 1,582 cases recovered, East Java with 985 cases, South Sulawesi with 506 cases, East Kalimantan with 396 cases, Central Java with 201 cases and DI Yogyakarta with 173 cases.

It was also reported that one province reported the addition of zero new cases, namely West Sulawesi. Then there are three provinces that reported the addition of cases under 20 today. The provinces are Gorontalo 9 cases, West Papua 13 cases, and Aceh 18 cases.

"The highest number of deaths was in East Java Province with 57 people. Then Central Java 42 people, DKI Jakarta 33 people and East Kalimantan 13 people," as quoted from data from the Ministry of Health, Sunday, January 17.

In addition, the number of specimens examined reached 8,315,839. In detail, as many as 8,181,248 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 134,591 using molecular rapid tests (TCM).

Then, the cumulative positivity rate or the number of people examined in Indonesia reached 16.3 percent.

"For the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, it was recorded at 73,243 people. Currently, 510 districts / cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases," he said.
