Tanjungpinang Bawaslu Bans Its Staff From Receiving Parsel Lebaran 2023 From Politicians

TANJUNGPINANG - Chairman of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands Muhammad Zaini forbade his staff to receive Eid 2023 from election participants and politicians.

"To maintain self-integration and institutions, professionalism and independence, of course we and our staff up to the village level are not allowed to accept parcels, parcels or other goods from election participants or people who have an interest in elections," Zaini said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, March 25.

According to him, the Eid parcels given by the election participants to the Tanjungpinang Bawaslu ranks have the potential to have a negative impact on election supervision. Therefore, he said, the Tanjungpinang Bawaslu ranks must have the courage to refuse the gift so that it is not burdened when supervising the implementation of the election.

"Maybe on the one hand the giving of these parcels is a form of increasing the friendship. But on the other hand, the potential has a negative impact on election supervision so it should be rejected in a good way," he said.

So far, information has not been obtained regarding members of the Tanjungpinang Bawaslu, Panwaslu, 2024 Election District, and Panwaslu, Kelurahan and Village Election 2024 which received Eid al-Fitr.

Zaini also believes that politicians and election participants will not want to give the parcel or parcel because it can pose a fairly serious risk. Election participants have so far also respected the duties of the Tanjungpinang Bawaslu ranks, and want elections to be carried out optimally and with quality.

"Indeed, there is local wisdom that occurs ahead of Eid al-Fitr, for example sharing canned drinks and parcels. However, this only applies to the family and friendship, not for matters related to elections," he said.

Zaini also reminded the Tanjungpinang KPU ranks to refuse the provision of parcels and gifts of Eid from election participants as a form of commitment to maintaining election integrity and neutrality.

"The Tanjungpinang KPU ranks, our partners certainly understand things that should be avoided and rejected so that they can work professionally," he said.
