JAKARTA - PDAM Cianjur, West Java, is still repairing 13 main pipelines to customers in Cianjur which were damaged by the earthquake, thus disrupting water distribution.

PDAM Cianjur Technical Director, Syamsul Hadi, said his party would replace the damaged main pipe with a new pipe. The problem is, the potential for repair time is quite long because the conditions are not yet possible.

"Initial detection there were 13 pipe points with a diameter of 350 mm that were damaged and repaired, but the pipe which was suspected to have been cracked due to the earthquake when filled with water leaked and continued to widen and break, damage occurred on the Cugenang and Pacet lines," said Syamsul, Thursday, December 1, quoted from Antara.

His party has dispatched dozens of technicians who work day and night to repair damaged pipe networks assisted by Central PUPR officers and the hall to analyze them.

Previously, repairs had been made, but the presence of high pressure water disrupted the main pipe channel and the water supply was disrupted again, especially for customers in urban areas.

"As of Thursday evening, maximum improvement efforts continue to be carried out and a joint team survey from the Central PUPR and West Java Hall with the Cianjur PDAM team is still calculating the pipe needs and the length of the replacement process with the hope that the water supply can return to normal," he said.

Currently, his party has recorded the length of the damaged pipe about 3 kilometers and has been surveyed together, down to the spring center in Cirumput Village, Cugenang District and Cilembang spring, Pacet District.

"Pepa dari sumber air PDAM Cianjur yang ada di Desa Cirumput dan Cilembang yang banyak mengalami retah akan diganti baru," katanya.
