156 Cows Infected With FMD, The Siak Ministry Of Agriculture Continues To Intensify Vaccination

RIAU - A total of 156 head of cattle in Siak Regency, Riau Province, are still infected with the Mouth and Nail Disease (FMD) virus. This record was spread in 10 sub-districts in 21 villages (villages).

Head of the Fisheries and Livestock Service (Diskannak) of Siak Regency, Susilawati said the 10 sub-districts consisted of Kandis, Minas, Tualang, Kerinci Kanan, Lubuk Dalam, Dayun, Koto Gasib, Bungaraya, Siak and Mempura sub-districts.

"Previously, 284 cows were tested positive for PMK, 156 were still sick, 121 recovered, three died and four were forcibly slaughtered," said Susi, quoted by Antara, Sunday, August 14.

Currently, his party has deployed officers to vaccinate animals that are still in healthy condition. So far, a total of 2,259 animals have been vaccinated.

"This vaccination is done to build immunity to healthy animals," said Susi.

Susi also said that so far her party has also carried out socialization to the sub-district, penghulu to breeders. That's about how to overcome and anticipate the spread of FMD to livestock.

He said that the method of vaccination was by confining the infected village. Then the neighboring village that has livestock will be vaccinated.

In the infected village, his party will carry out medical treatment. These include providing support or analgesics and urging the community not to take their livestock out of the village.
