Look For Harun Masiku, KPK Makes Sure To Use All Networks And Strengths
KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri/KPK PR DOK

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri said the search for Harun Masiku would continue. The fugitive related to the bribery case of interim replacement (PAW) members of the DPR will be sought by utilizing all existing networks.

"We are committed to looking for it at any time. Therefore, the KPK is serious about looking for the perpetrators, we are using the entire network of forces," Firli told reporters at the DPR building, Senayan, South Jakarta, Thursday, June 30.

Not only Harun Masiku, said Firli, all KPK fugitives who have not been caught so far will continue to be sought.

"We take advantage of our cooperation with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights because they have a network of immigration and cross-border surveillance in Indonesia," he said.

In addition, the Police will also cooperate with the search for these fugitives. Moreover, Bhayangkara Corps has many members spread from village to provincial level.

"Next, we also take advantage of international institutions. Is it Interpol, including the network of cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian representatives abroad," he said.

"The principle is that the DPOs are still in our commitment to solve them. Because of the corruption cases, they are our homework to solve, especially the DPOs," continued the former Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK.

As previously reported, Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) believes that PK under the leadership of Firli Bahuri et al. never looked for the fugitive Harun Masiku. The proof is that the briber, former Commissioner of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Wahyu Setiawan, has been on the run for 900 days.

"We are very sure that Harun Masiku was never actually wanted by the KPK," ICW Coordinator Kurnia Ramadhana told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, June 28.

Kurnia even assessed that Firli Bahuri and KPK officials had only made rhetorical statements about the search for Harun.

"A number of previous KPK fugitives who could be arrested by the KPK, one of them is the former General Treasurer of the Democratic Party M. Nazaruddin if I'm not mistaken (arrested, ed) within 77 days," said the anti-corruption activist.

"It's been 900 days why can't the KPK arrest (Harun Masiku, ed)? We are absolutely sure that until the end of Firli Bahuri's term of office, Harun Masiku will never be caught by the KPK," added Kurnia.

The KPK has named Harun Masiku as a suspect in giving bribes to KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan since January 2020. The bribery was carried out so that he could get an easy seat as a member of the DPR RI through time shifts or PAW.

Apart from Harun, there are actually three other fugitives who have not been caught. They are Surya Darmadi who has been on the run since 2019; Izil Azhar has been fugitive since 2018; and Kirana Kotama who has been fugitive since 2017.
