CIANJUR - Two people were seriously injured after the car they were traveling in was dragged by the Siliwangi Railway on the Cipatat-Cianjur-Sukabumi route while passing through a rail crossing without a gate in Sirnagalih Village, Cilaku District, Cianjur Regency, West Java Province today.

The head of the Cilaku Sector Police, AKP Nandang, said the vehicle carrying the two men was dragged 200 meters because it was pinched so that it could not leave the train track when the train passed.

"The position of the vehicle stopped with the engine running on the train tracks, at the same time the Siliwangi train was about to pass, so the driver panicked, he didn't have time to escape because many vehicles had stopped in front of him, at the back as well," he said in Cianjur, Antara, Wednesday, June 29. .

According to him, the two people who were in the Toyota Avanza with license plate number D 1137 AIU tried to get out of the vehicle, but were unable to open the seat belts.

Residents who were near the scene of the incident also could not do much. They could only help the two car passengers out of the vehicle after the train stopped.

"The victim suffered serious injuries, one of whom suffered a severed hand. Both were immediately taken to Cianjur Hospital for medical assistance," said Nandang.

The accident left the car badly damaged and both passengers seriously injured.

Residents who witnessed the accident said a Toyota Avanza with license plate number D 1137 AIU broke through a doorless crossing and got stuck in the train track a few minutes before the train passed.

"Because they didn't know the terrain, the driver broke through the crossing without a gate when the train would pass in a few minutes. Maybe the driver panicked and didn't have time to get out of the car," said Rita, a motorcyclist who witnessed the accident.
