BATAM - A member of the Talaud Archipelago Police of the North Sulawesi Regional Police, who was on the wanted list (DPO) for being involved in debt and fraud cases, was arrested in Batam, Riau Islands.

"The perpetrator by the name of Brigadier Rigel Lambogia was arrested at a hotel in Batam City by the Riau Islands Police Bidpropam Team and the Barelang Police Opsnal Team," said Head of the Riau Islands Police Propam Kombes Stevanus Tumuntuan, Monday, May 16.

Stevanus explained that this incident began when Brigadier Rigel borrowed Rp. 20 million from a woman with a minibus as collateral.

"It turned out that the car had problems with the leasing (company) and was eventually taken by the leasing party," said Stevanus.

Because he could not pay the debt, the perpetrator then fled to Batam in December 2021 to look for work with the aim of paying the debt. In Batam he had stayed at the house of a female friend in the Ocarina area.

“He worked briefly as an online driver using his girlfriend's car. In mid-April, he worked again at a nightclub in a hotel in Batam as a waiter for 3 weeks," said Stevanus.

Stevanus continued that on Monday, May 11, the perpetrator intended to return to Manado. Arriving at Hang Nadim Airport, he did not leave because his friend's ticket was not sent. Because he did not leave, the perpetrator then looked for lodging in the Baloi area.

"He stayed until May 13 because his friend didn't buy a ticket either," he said.

On that date, Brigadier Rigel was arrested by the police team in his lodging room. After being arrested, he was immediately taken to the Riau Islands Regional Police for further examination.

"From the results of a urine examination by the Riau Islands Police Biddokkes personnel and witnessed by the Riau Islands Police Bidpropam personnel, the perpetrator was declared negative for using drugs," said Stevanus.
