SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Gerindra Party DPC assessed that the presence of Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto accompanying President Joko Widodo during a visit to Surabaya City on Wednesday, April 20 had a positive impact on the upper and lower classes of society.

"If Defense Minister Prabowo goes to traditional markets, to villages, to remote villages to meet farmers outside the service, for us that is not a new thing. Such things are usually done in silence, without publication," said the Secretary of the Party DPC. Gerindra Surabaya Thony in Surabaya, reported by Antara, Thursday, April 21.

However, he continued, the visit of Defense Minister Prabowo to accompany President Joko Widodo when visiting traditional markets and monitoring the disbursement of cooking oil direct cash assistance (BLT) in a number of areas in East Java, one of which was in the fishing village of Bulak Kenjeran, Surabaya, felt different from before.

"So, there is a sense of surprise (surprise), emotion, and joy," said Thony, who is also the deputy chairman of the Surabaya City DPRD.

According to him, there are three things that are unusual in the presence of Minister of Defense Prabowo who is also the General Chair of the Gerindra Party, first, his arrival together with President Jokowi. Second, being present at a time when people need motivation because of the downturn that is being experienced due to the COVID-19 pandemic for some time. then; third, at a time when many people are in trouble due to the continuous increase in the price of basic necessities.

This Gerindra legislator feels confident that the blusukan of Jokowi and Prabowo, who are the two national figures, will have a very positive impact on the upper, middle and lower classes of society.

"This visit of the two of them, I believe there will be many positive impacts, both for the upper and lower communities. People feel that they can directly confide in their problems to their father, it can be a remedy for the heart for various kinds of turmoil, it can encourage people to be compact, harmonious, and mutually strengthen each other," said Tony.

In addition, continued Thony, this visit can also be felt as a form of great care and concern from the leaders for the suffering of the community at a time of difficulty, including a kind of guarantee that stability will be maintained in various fields in the future.

"Besides that, even though we as Gerindra cadres can't be involved in welcoming him (Jokowi-Prabowo), yes, we feel happy and calm," he said.
