Not Yet Thinking About The DKI Pilkada, Gerindra Is Still Focusing On Prabowo's Candidacy In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - A number of names have been mentioned as potential candidates for governor and deputy governor of DKI Jakarta, even though the Simultaneous Pilkada will only be held in 2024.

It became crowded because the term of office of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, would expire in October this year.

Regarding the issue of carrying regional heads, Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani admitted that his party has not yet thought about preparing a person to be carried in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections.

According to him, Gerindra is still focused on bringing back General Chairperson of Gerindra Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

"Frankly, (Gerindra) is concentrating on efforts to win the legislature and the nomination of Pak Prabowo as a presidential candidate," said Muzani, Sunday, January 16.

The reason, he said, was that success in the legislative and presidential elections was far more important for the Gerindra Party than discussing the regional elections.

"God willing, the legislative and presidential elections will take place in 2024, which month we are discussing with the government, that will be after the regional elections," he said.

Previously, the Gerindra Party claimed to have a large stock of cadres that could be promoted as a candidate for governor of DKI Jakarta. Among them, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria and Chair of the Gerindra Faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Rani Mauliani.

"DKI, we have a lot of stock of cadres. There is Mr. Ahmad Riza Patria, there is Mrs. Rani Mauliani who is now the head of the three-term faction. We do not lack stock of cadres," said Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party Habiburokhman, Tuesday, January 11.

However, Habiburokhman admitted that his party had not yet determined a definite name to replace Anies Baswedan. He said the appointment of candidates had to go through the party mechanism first.

"Not yet, so the DPD stage proposes to the DPP. The DPP discusses and then proposes to Pak Prabowo," he said.

Even so, the Gerindra Party spokesman confirmed that Prabowo Subianto's party would propose its own cadres. Because he said, Gerindra is a big party

"We are a big party, we should nominate our own candidates, ideally like that. In the last two elections we did not nominate candidates from our cadres as governors, but now we are a big party, so it's only natural that we have a high call," he explained.
