Anies Calls Jakarta Floods Now Only For One Day But In Kebon Pala For Days, This Is The Deputy Governor's Explanation
JAKARTA - Floods hit the Kebon Pala area, East Jakarta for days. Rain and water sent from upstream have caused this area to be submerged since the evening of Thursday, October 28, until this morning before noon it just receded.
In fact, on Friday, October 29, DKI Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan, claimed that currently flooding in Jakarta only lasts for one day. Unfortunately, that condition did not happen in Kebon Pala.
Responding to this, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, explained that the flooding in Kebon Pala occurred due to the overflow of the Ciliwung River from upstream which also experienced heavy rains.
However, he said the government was trying to build a bridge in the Ciliwung river. Indeed, until now the work of the Ministry of PUPR has not been completed.
"Various efforts have been made at the Ciliwung River. The pipeline is also being made, together with the central government PUPR (Ministry of Public Works and Housing), to make a drain from the Ciliwung River to BKT River, which is still in the process of not being completed", said Riza at DKI City Hall, Monday, November 1.

Not only that, but Riza also said that currently the progress of the construction of the Cimahi and Ciawi dams, West Java will be completed soon. This reservoir, when operating, can suppress the flow of water that comes from upstream to downstream.
"The reservoirs in Cimahi and Ciawi, which God willing, will receive information from the central government by the end of this year. Hopefully, the presence of these two reservoirs can reduce flood shipments from areas outside Jakarta to Jakarta", said Riza.
Previously, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, viewed that the flood management carried out by his staff was able to reduce flooding more quickly. This he conveyed in the National Coordination Meeting for Anticipating La Nina which was held by BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency).
"At the beginning of this year, it was felt that areas that normally flooded for three to four days, are now dry in less than a day", said Anies as seen on the BMKG Youtube channel, Friday, October 29.
Anies claimed that this condition could occur because he increased the elements of preparedness, responsiveness, and mobilization from the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government in tackling the impact of the Jakarta floods.
