Christian Eriksen Banned From Appearing With Inter Milan This Season After Almost Dying At Euro 2020
JAKARTA - Midfielder Christian Eriksen was not allowed to play for Inter Milan in the Italian League this season after suffering heart failure at Euro 2020.
Quoted by Antara from Sky Sports, Saturday, Inter Milan explained last Thursday that Eriksen could not compete in the Italian League because of the rules regarding the ban on playing for those who had suffered serious injuries from the Italian health authorities.
"With reference to Eriksen's player registration rights, it should be noted that following a serious injury that occurred during the European Championship in June 2021, the player has been temporarily banned by the Italian medical authorities from sporting activity this season," Inter Milan said in a statement.
In addition, Inter Milan also opened up opportunities for Eriksen to play abroad after colliding with the rules so that the Danish player could continue his career and play competitively for this season.
"Although the current condition of the player does not meet the requirements to achieve sporting fitness in Italy, the same can be achieved in other countries where the player can continue his competitive activity," continued Inter Milan.
In August, Eriksen had come to Inter Milan's training ground and the club reported that the former Tottenham Hotspur player was in good physical and mental condition.
Italian Football Federation (FIGC) scientific engineering committee member Francesco Braconaro said in August that Eriksen would not be able to play in Italy because of his condition.
Braconaro explained that Eriksen could have played in Italy but he had to remove the ICD device which has a function to restore the heart rhythm of his body.
Previously, Eriksen had a heart attack and made him faint while defending Denmark in the Euro 2020 group stage against Finland on June 12 last.
Eriksen's incident forced him to be taken to a hospital in Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark for further treatment.
As a result of this, the doctor had to carry out surgery to implant a defibrillator in his body which was successfully carried out and allowed Eriksen to return home on 18 June.
