Marjorie Taylor Greene, US Congress Member And Trump Supporter, Buys SPAC Stocks To Support TRUTH Social

JAKARTA - Marjorie Taylor Greene, a US Congress member who is an ally of Donald Trump, bought a USD 50.000 stake in a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) that has agreed to join the former US president's new social media venture.

Greene bought the stock for between USD 15.001 and USD 50.000 on October 22, the day the stock rose 1.650% from its pre-deal value. The gains came after amateur stock traders and Trump supporters began buying them, according to a regulatory filing published on Wednesday, October 27.

SPAC shares, Digital World Acquisition Corp., have given up most of their gains since Greene invested last Friday.

"This transaction is reported in accordance with House rules and provides all necessary details about the transaction," said a spokeswoman for Greene's congressional office.

There is no suggestion that Greene broke any rules with his investment. Members of Congress are allowed to trade stocks as long as they don't use non-public information.

A fiery Republican, Greene has often been criticized for provocative comments and Twitter Inc has occasionally blocked his social media accounts. In June, the 47-year-old congressman from Georgia publicly apologized for comparing COVID-19 mask and vaccination requirements to the Nazi Holocaust that killed 6 million Jews.

He is also a member of the US Congress who has been keen to propose and campaign for Impeachment against the current US President, Joe Biden, who he accuses of not being able to cope with inflation and making tyrannical decisions about COVID-19.
