Manggarai Sluice Gate Is Still Normal, But Riverside Residents Must Be Wary Of Water Delivery From Bogor

JAKARTA - Manggarai Sluice Gate, Jakarta, is still in normal status or on standby 4. Although the Katulampa Bogor floodgate has entered standby 3, water is expected to flow from Bogor (upstream) to Jakarta (downstream) for 7 hours.

"Our estimate of the SOP is that from the Katulampa floodgate (Bogor) to the Manggarai floodgate (Jakarta) the water journey is 7 hours, it's just that it's already raining in Jakarta. We have prepared facilities and infrastructure, including the flood task force", said Head of UPK Central Jakarta Water Agency, Farry Andhiko, when contacted by VOI, Thursday, October 28.

The existence of the Manggarai floodgate serves to divert the water from the Ciliwung River to the outside of Jakarta. The Manggarai floodgate is also part of the flood control system in Jakarta.

"The Manggarai floodgate, the latest information is still 633, it's still normal, it's still on standby 4. Katulampa has entered standby 3, but the water hasn't entered. It hasn't entered Depok yet, Manggarai (water) hasn't entered yet", said Farry.

Meanwhile, based on information, the Katulampa High Water Level (TMA) dam in the Ciliwung River has reached 110 centimeters and has 3 flood alert statuses.

Residents of Jakarta who live on the banks of the river are expected to always be aware of the impact of the overflow of the Ciliwung River. Farry said that his party had prepared 3 units of large and small heavy equipment.

"Residents along the Ciliwung River are alert to the presence of water inflows. Water delivery is predicted until evening or early morning in the Ciliwung River flow. We will anticipate, our strength is maximal at the Manggarai floodgates", he said.
