In Memory of Diego Maradona, Barcelona Faces Boca Juniors on December 14

JAKARTA - Barcelona will face Argentine League giants Boca Juniors in a match of honor to mark the one-year anniversary of the death of their former player Diego Maradona.

"FC Barcelona and Club Atletico Boca Juniors will face each other in the 'Maradona Cup' on December 14 which is a match in honor of star Diego Armando Maradona on the anniversary of his death," Barcelona said, cited from Antara quoting Reuters, Tuesday, October 26.

Boca confirmed they would take part in the match and said it would take place at Msool Park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Maradona died of a heart attack on November 25, 2020, after battling health problems and undergoing emergency surgery for a subdural hematoma.

The Argentine has played for Barca and Boca which has been decorated with various trophies at both clubs.

He is also famous for guiding Argentina to the 1986 World Cup in Mexico with his Hand of God goal
