Learning At Islamic Boarding School Of Babussalam Depok Stopped, 46 Occupants Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - Face-to-face teaching and learning activities at the Babussalam Islamic Boarding School, Mekarsari, Cimanggis, Depok City, West Java are temporarily suspended. This follows 46 residents who tested positive for COVID-19.

In addition, activities at the Babussalam Islamic Boarding School are also limited. This is to anticipate the spread of COVID-19 cases in Islamic boarding schools.

"Activities at the pesantren are limited, there is no face-to-face meeting," said the Head of Cimanggis Sub-district, Depok, Abdul Rahman, to VOI, Thursday, October 21.

However, Abdul said, his party allowed the Babussalam Islamic Boarding School to carry out activities that were online or not face-to-face. "(If) they are online (allowed)," said Abdul.

Abdul Rahman detailed that this incident began when a student's guardian reported that one of the students had tested positive for COVID-19. This report is submitted to the local Health Office.

"There was one positive report from the parent of the student in class VIII," said Abdul Rahman.

Following up on the report, the related party conducted a PCR test for class VIII at the Babussalam Islamic Boarding School. The results obtained 17 positive people for COVID-19.

"For class VIII, 55 students had close contacts, and 17 positive results were initially obtained," said Abdul.

Then, because many residents were positive, the PCR test was carried out again on all residents of the Babussalam Islamic Boarding School. Namely to 182 students and 71 employees.

"Against the second PCR in class VII and class IX, 29 were added which were positive. So the total was 46 people," said Abdul.

Abdul said, currently all residents of the Babussalam Islamic Boarding School who are positive for COVID-19 are undergoing isolation with no symptoms and are healthy. They are isolated in the Babussalam Islamic Boarding School.

"We isolated the positive in a corridor, because Babussalam is quite wide," said Abdul.

On this occasion, Abdul said that residents who tested negative for COVID-19 were still in the Babussalam Islamic Boarding School area. But their existence is separated from the positive.

"The teachers and administrators are very cooperative. I ask for your support so they can recover quickly," he said.
