Going Forward Pilwalkot Medan, PDIP Cadre Akhyar Nasution Meets Democrats

JAKARTA - Acting Mayor of Medan, North Sumatra, who is also a PDI-P cadre Akhyar Nasution approached Democrats to explore the Medan Pillwalkot nomination. The exploration was carried out by Akhyar Nasution by meeting with the Democrat elite in Jakarta.

Accompanied by the Chairperson of the Medan City Democratic DPC Burhanuddin Sitepu, Akhyar Nasution met with the Chairman of the Democratic Election Winning Body (Bappilu) Andi Arief. Akhyar, he continued, openly stated his desire to advance through the Democrats.

"He (Akhyar Nasution) seems to have known that the PDIP will nominate Bobby Nasution for the Medan Pilkada," said Burhanuddin Sitepu when contacted by VOI, Monday, July 27.

Akhyar's meeting with the Democrat elite which was also attended by Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Bappilu, Andi Nurpati, was held on June 14. Akhyar Nasution's name was included in the results of the fit and proper test for the DPC Democrat Medan.

"Bang Akhyar (later) spoke, conveyed by him (regarding the Medan Pilkada), to the point that he hoped that if possible the Democrats could accept as a candidate for mayor and be ready to follow the applicable rules," said Burhanuddin.

The Democrats had indeed initiated a new pivot coalition. The exploration of political communication to determine the candidates for the mayor of Medan was carried out with the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and the National Mandate Party (PAN).

Therefore, the results of Akhyar's visit to Jakarta will again be discussed by the Democratic DPP. The central committee, called Burhanuddin, is sure to attract aspirations from the city and provincial levels.

"All decisions are in the hands of the DPP," said Burhanuddin.
