The Government Will Sanction Companies That Own Office Buildings Having No Infiltration Wells

JAKARTA - Referring to the Governor's Regulation (Pergub) Number 20 of 2013 concerning Ground Water, the Central Jakarta City Government immediately investigates 400 private and government offices to check for infiltration wells.

"We will collect data on buildings in the near future, whether they are in accordance with the infiltration wells or not," said Central Jakarta City Assistant for Economics and Development (Asekbang), Bakwan Ferizan Ginting when contacted by VOI, Sunday, October 17.

This step is to determine whether the building already has an infiltration well or not.

"Later we will see whether the infiltration wells are functioning or not and whether or not the buildings are owned," he said.

Bakwan further said that the function of the infiltration well is to accommodate, store and absorb rainwater into the ground.

Checking infiltration wells is also to find out whether there are infiltration wells that do not have a proper building permit (IMB) or not.

During the inspection, the Central Jakarta City Government has formed three teams to check the construction of office infiltration wells in three sub-districts, namely Tanah Abang, Menteng, and Senen.

This supervision team consists of the ranks of the Regional Apparatus Work Unit (SKPD) from the Cipta Karya, Spatial Planning and Land Services, Water Resources Office, Satpol PP, and One-Stop Integrated Services (PTSP).

The supervisory team will review whether or not the construction of infiltration wells is in accordance with the building permit (IMB) for the office.

If there are no infiltration wells, the company that owns the building will be given the opportunity for 30 days to build infiltration wells in accordance with Governor Regulation (Pergub) Number 20 of 2013 concerning Groundwater.

"If the infiltration well is not made for 30 days, the office will be sealed. The final stage of strict sanctions will be carried out at the provincial level," he said.
