As Economic Conditions Recover, PLN Boosts Electricity Consumption To 28.093 Megawatts
JAKARTA - PT PLN has succeeded in boosting electricity consumption as the national economic condition begins to recover after the COVID-19 pandemic, especially the industrial sector which is moving again.
"Industrial activity and the economy have recovered. This condition is expected to continue to improve and will achieve positive national economic growth," said PLN President Director Zulkifli Zaini as quoted by Antara, Sunday.
The company recorded the highest peak night load this year occurred at 19.00 p.m. local time on October 14, 2021, with a peak load reaching 28.093 megawatts.
The peak load figure is greater than the achievement before the 2019 pandemic which was only 27.973 megawatts.
On the other hand, the peak daytime load throughout 2022 was highest on October 13. The peak load during the day was recorded at 27.740 megawatts.
This achievement is better than the highest peak load throughout 2020 of 26.717 megawatts last March, while the highest peak afternoon load throughout 2019 was recorded at 27.862 megawatts.

PLN responded quickly to this condition by checking all generator, transmission, and distribution operations, especially in the Java, Madura, and Bali areas.
"We ensure reliable electricity supply to welcome the economic recovery," said Zulkifli.
This economic recovery was also felt from the record of growing electricity consumption. Until September 2021, electricity consumption grew 4.42 percent compared to last year.
This condition shows that PLN's strategy to increase electricity consumption in the community is running well.
