Vehicle Mobility Increases 40 Percent In Jakarta, Odd-Even Possibility Of Expanding

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of Metro Jaya Police plans to expand the odd-even application points. Originally, there were 25 odd-even points but currently, only three points have only been implemented during the PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) period.

"Regarding the odd-even route, there is already a governor's regulation which states that there are 25 odd-even areas in Jakarta which we have only activated three areas, Sudirman, Thamrin, and Jalan Kuningan, there are still 20 more odd-even areas that we have not activated", said Traffic Director of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, to reporters, Friday, October 15.

One of the bases for the odd-even area expansion plan is increasing mobility. Where, based on data per day the increase in the number of vehicles passing is very high.

"The facts on the ground and the data show that there has been an increase in the volume of vehicles from the daily average of around 30-40 percent", said Sambodo.

However, the plan, continued Sambodo, must be discussed carefully. So, shortly, a coordination meeting with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will be held.

"Of course next week we will hold a meeting with related agencies with the Transportation Agency and so on. To determine whether these three areas are enough or need to be activated, other areas are added", concluded Sambodo.

For information, Metro Jaya Police has implemented an odd-even scheme on three roads, including Sudirman Street, MH Thamrin Street, and Rasuna Said Street. This scheme is still valid starting from 06.00 to 20.00 WIB.
