17 Students Islamic Boarding School In Karangmojo Gunungkidul Positive COVID-19
GUNUNGKIDUL - A total of 17 students at the Islamic boarding school in Karangmojo District, Gunungkidul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, were confirmed positive for COVID-19. As of today, 18 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded daily.
"Today, a cluster of Islamic boarding schools (Ponpes) has emerged in the Karangmojo sub-district. The addition of this case has entered the Islamic boarding school cluster", said Head of the Gunungkidul Health Service, Dewi Irawaty, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 14.
She said her party was still investigating the case of students from the Islamic boarding school. However, she did not explain the chronology of the emergence of the Islamic boarding school cluster.
"What is clear at this time is that we are investigating so that it does not spread. Then 17 positive COVID-19 students are self-isolating", she said.
Dewi said today there were 18 new cases added, and 10 confirmed cases of COVID-19 completed isolation. The total number of positive confirmed cases in Gunungkidul Regency during the COVID-19 pandemic was 17,872 cases, with details of 16,774 recovering cases, and 1,024 deaths.

"Currently, there are 74 active cases undergoing isolation or treatment", said Dewi.
She said that in general, daily cases continued to slop, although her party appealed to the public not to ignore health protocols. According to her, the Gunungkidul area has actually dropped from level 3 to level 2.
"If it is made by section, in fact, there are already three districts in DIY whose conditions have decreased, including Gunungkidul. However, the decision to step down or not is the district government's authority.
Everything is determined by the central government. We hope that the community will wait for the decision until October 18", she said.
