Malang Mayor Sutiaji Convicted Of Violating PPKM, Fined IDR 25 Million

MALANG - Malang Mayor, Sutiaji, underwent a trial in the case of PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) violations at the Kepanjen District Court of Malang Regency.

In addition to Sutiaji, the Malang City Secretary, Erik Setyo Santoso, and the General Head, Arif Tri Sistiawan were also on trial.

In the trial led by Farid Zuhri, the Mayor of Malang and several other people were found guilty of violating the PPKM.

"Essentially, the three of them confessed to violating Article 49 of the East Java Governor Regulations Health Protocol. They confessed", said Public Relations of the Public Court of Kepanjen, Muhamad Aulia Reza Utama, Tuesday, October 12.

The panel of judges sentenced Sutiaji to a fine of IDR 25 million or 15 days in prison. Meanwhile, Erik was fined IDR 15 million or 10 days in prison.

"And Arif is fined Rp 10 million if he is not paid and locked up for eight days", he said.

The Mayor of Malang, Sutiaji admitted to accepting and respecting the judge's decision.

"I follow the procedure, I am the people here, it makes no difference, I just follow it", he said.

He said no one was harmed in this judge's verdict. "No one was harmed, I have accepted it", he said.

Previously, Mayor Sutiaji cycled or rode with his entourage in the Kondang Merak Beach area, Sumberbening Village, Bantur District, Malang Regency, East Java.

The activity was reported by community elements as a violation of health protocols because the area was still in PPKM level 3.
