PSI Ambitious To Target 27 DKI DPRD Seats In The 2024 Legislative Election

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI) Central Board, Michael Victor Sianipar, said his political party has ambitions to win 27 seats in the DKI Regional House of Representatives during the 2024 Legislative Election.

This figure increased dramatically from the number of PSI Faction Members who served as members of the DKI Regional House of Representatives for the 2019-2024 period, which were 8 people. Meanwhile, the number of parties that have won the most seats in the DKI Regional House of Representatives is PDIP with 25 faction members.

"The target is 27 seats in the DKI Regional House of Representatives. Currently, there are only 8 PSI members sitting in the DKI Regional House of Representatives", Michael said when contacted, Tuesday, October 12.

To achieve this target, PSI is currently conducting a selection of legislative candidates to take part in the political contestation in the capital city.

Michael believes that in the future leaders and candidates for the Jakarta legislature will emerge from PSI cadres who represent the people of Jakarta from all lines, professions, and backgrounds.

"PSI Jakarta is not only looking for smart and experienced people but also looking for people who have a heart and a calling to make real change and impact in Jakarta", said Michael.

PSI targets to attract 2,000 people to register as candidates for legislative members (candidates) in Jakarta. Later, PSI will screen 106 cadres to run as legislative candidates.

Michael calculated that the cadre process to the preparation of legislative candidates would take one year before registration for the 2024 general election.

In this selection process, PSI will select people who have selling points to the public with their track records from various regions.

"We need candidates who are competent, have a track record. Maybe some activists, entrepreneurs, journalists are also allowed. Later for campaign issues, it's a party business", said Michael.

"This track record will be packaged and shown to the public. Imagine if such a person sat in the Regional House of Representatives. That's our strategy", he continued.
