Former Tanjungbalai Mayor Who Gives Money To Ex-KPK Investigators Executed To Medan Detention Center
JAKARTA - The former Mayor of Tanjungbalai, M Syahrial, was executed at the Medan Class I Detention Center on Wednesday, October 6. This is done to implement the decision of the Medan Corruption Court which has permanent legal force.
"The execution prosecutor, Leo Sukoto Manalu, has carried out the decision of the Corruption Court at the Medan District Court which has permanent legal force on behalf of the convict Muhammad Syahrial", said Spokesperson for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, to reporters, Thursday, October 7.
Syahrial will serve a prison sentence of two years minus the period of detention in the detention center.
"A criminal fine of IDR 100 million was also charged with the condition that if it was not paid, it would be replaced with imprisonment for 4 months", said Ali.
The former Mayor of Tanjungbalai was thrown into prison after he was legally and convincingly proven to have committed a criminal act of corruption. He was proven to have bribed a former KPK investigator, Stepanus Robin Pattuju.

The bribe was given so that Stepanus could secure the case that dragged his name related to the sale and purchase of positions in Tanjungbalai. His acquaintance with Stepanus took place at the residence of the former Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin.
Currently, M Syahrial has also become a suspect in the alleged corruption case of buying and selling positions. He was appointed with the Regional Secretary of the City of Tanjungbalai, Yusmada.
