Tourism Manager Complains 8-Day Foreign Tourist Quarantine, Bali Tourism Office: Prevents New Variants From Entering

DENPASAR - Complaints came from tourism object managers regarding the 8-day quarantine for foreign tourists or foreign tourists entering Bali.

Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, I Putu Astawa, explained that the policy was to prevent the transmission of the new variant of COVID-19. His party also asked tourism managers on the Island of the Gods to comply with the rules related to the quarantine of foreign tourists.

"In fact, in other countries, it can take up to 14 days. We comply with the existing regulations, they will be evaluated, if Covid-19 comes down, the policy can be different", said Astawa in Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday, October 6.

According to him, the regulation is for the initial stage of mitigation and the government is careful to be aware of new variants entering the Island of the Gods.

"Prudence is important, especially in a new country there is a new variant that we must be aware of. Do not let it enter us. If it enters, there will be more transmissions or spikes in cases, we will be troubled too. Don't let there be new waves of transmission or new variants", said Astawa.

In addition, according to him, the Bali Provincial Government 2022 will hold an international event to stimulate Bali tourism.

"In 2022, we have more important events to carry out. As a trial at the beginning, don't let the euphoria of this opening forget as if there was no COVID-19. This is something we have to watch out for. New infections or variants enter us, that's what all parties must know", said Astawa.

Bali Tourism Office reminded tourism actors in Bali not to be euphoric about the opening of foreign tourist gates.

"The precautionary principle is that there should not be a new wave, a new infection, there should not be euphoria. Euphoria means being too frenetic to ignore the pandemic. This pandemic is not over yet, vigilance must be on all fronts", said Astawa.
