Commission II Of DPR: It's Not Deadlock, Decision On Election Day 2024 Only Needs Synchronization
JAKARTA - The decision-making schedule for the 2024 Simultaneous Elections has been postponed again. Originally, Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) together with the Minister of Home Affairs and election organizers had determined the voting day for the 2024 General Election today, Wednesday, October 6.
Although there are always delays, the Chairman of Commission II of the DPR RI, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, guarantees that there will be no deadlock or deadlock regarding the date of the election.
"I have to explain that there is no deadlock," said Doli at the DPR Building, Wednesday, October 6.
It's just that, said Doli, currently it still takes time to synchronize the two designs for the implementation of the Pilleg and the 2024 Presidential Election. In the same year, Simultaneous Regional Head Elections will also be held.
As is known, the government's proposal regarding the Simultaneous Election was held on May 15 and the Simultaneous Regional Head Election was decided on November 27. Meanwhile, the General Election Commission (KPU)'s proposal wants Simultaneous Elections to be held on February 21.
"We have done three consignments, it turns out that we have reached an agreement that we still need time to exercise and synchronize all views," explained the Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party.

However, Doli denied that today's postponement was due to a deadlock between the government's proposal and the election organizers. Instead, he said, so that the implementation time can be decided carefully.
"This is precisely the maturation of the concept. Everyone can be involved, can provide input so that we can find a concept that is truly as perfect as possible," concluded Doli. It is known that the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said that the government proposed that the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) and General Election (Election) take place on May 15.
The government's proposal is different from the General Election Commission (KPU) which proposed that the 2024 election voting day falls on February 21, 2024.
