Warning From Coordinating Minister Airlangga: Even Though COVID-19 Cases Are Declining Sharply, People Must Stay Alert
JAKARTA - The implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in the Java-Bali and Outside Java-Bali regions is evaluated every week, and a determination is made to continue its implementation every 2 weeks. From the results of this week's evaluation, it was decided that the implementation of PPKM would continue for the period from October 5 to October 18, 2021.
The development of handling COVID-19 in Indonesia has been very good. At the national level, the case control achievement rate in Indonesia is very good, as can be seen from the Reproduction Number (Rt) indicator which is below 1 (as of 30 September 2021 at 0.63), much lower than other countries (Singapore). = 1.54; UK = 1.05; Philippines = 1.01).
In addition, daily confirmed cases per 1 million population in Indonesia are very low at 6.52 cases per 1 million population, much lower than other countries (UK = 505.3 cases; Malaysia = 376.3 cases; Singapore = 361, 4 cases).
Of the 27 provinces outside Java-Bali, as of October 3, 2021, there are no provinces entering level 4, there are 4 provinces at Level 3, and 22 provinces at level 2, and 1 province at level 1 (Riau Islands). Assessment of the pandemic situation outside Java-Bali, shows that there has been a significant improvement from week to week.
"There has been a significant improvement/decrease in levels. For the provincial level, East Kalimantan has dropped to level 2 and Riau Islands has dropped from level 2 to level 1," said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, in a virtual PPKM Conference, Monday, October 4 .
For the development of weekly assessment levels at the Regency/City level outside Java-Bali, the data shows that there is a continuous improvement, where the number of Regency/City levels 4 and 3 continues to decline, while the number of Regency/City levels 2 and 1 continues to increase ( level 1 from 34 to 44; level 2 from 275 to 292).
For the development of COVID-19 indicators in 10 districts/cities outside Java-Bali PPKM level 4 this period (September 21 - October 4, 2021), compared to the beginning of the period, there were 1 Regency/City experiencing an increase in the level of assessment (Banjarmasin City), 7 Kab /City experienced a decrease in level, and 2 Regencies/Cities remained at the assessment level. On the other hand, 3 regencies/cities still experienced an increase in the positivity rate, namely Padang City, Banjarmasin City, and Balikpapan City.
In accordance with the direction of the Vice President who chaired the Limited PPKM Evaluation Meeting on October 4, 2021, although the COVID-19 case was relatively under control, the decline in the PPKM level must be carried out gradually and measurably, based on the dynamics of the development of COVID-19 cases in the field.
"PPKM level 4 will still be applied to 6 regencies/cities (from the previous 10 regencies/cities), which is implemented in districts/cities where there is no improvement in level, down or up to Level 3 with a low number of I, and the positivity rate increases or increases. Data for 6 districts/cities that PPKM level 4 applies are Pidie District, Bangka District, Padang City, Banjarmasin City, Bulungan District, and Tarakan City," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.
In line with this, level 3 PPKM will be applied to 44 districts/cities (previously 108 districts/cities), and level 2 will be applied to 292 districts/cities (formerly 249 districts/cities), and level 1 PPKM will be applied to 44 districts /City (previously 18 regencies/cities).
"Restrictions on Community Activities in PPKM for the period 5-18 October 2021 will still be the same as the implementation of PPKM in the previous period, with adjustments to the control over Face-to-face Learning (PTM), according to the arrangements from the SKB Kemendikbud / Research and Technology with the relevant K/L," said the Coordinating Minister. Airlangga.
Regarding vaccination achievements as of October 4, 2021, of the 10 districts/cities that currently implement PPKM level 4, there are 8 districts/cities below the national average of Dose-1 Vaccination (45.24 percent). While the achievement of vaccination for the elderly, there are 7 districts/cities below the national average for vaccination for the elderly (30.93 percent).
